Funcom have just put out a teaser video for the latest update to Conan Exiles. In it, we see a new dungeon called The Dregs, new armor, new weapons, and new enemies. This update seems pretty significant, and also appears to provide some insight into where Conan Exiles is going. We see team-based combat in the video, and a dungeon that looks very much like something you would see in an MMO. I find this quite exciting and look forward to seeing where they take it.
Still on the way are improved combat, a sorcery system, more items, additional balancing, lore related updates, mounts, and much more. All of these changes, along with the latest update, lead me to believe that we’re going to see Conan Exiles filling a unique role. A lot of survival games miss out on immersing a player in the game world and building a connection to your character. These things seem to fall more into single-player narrative-driven games, or MMO’s, but not in games like Ark, or even Minecraft. However, it looks like Funcom may have found a way to draw some of these elements into this space.
Conan Exiles is on Steam in Early Access with a projected official release in early 2018.
