Developer Playtonic Games and publisher Team17 Digital Limited have announced that the upcoming open-world platformer, Yooka-Laylee, will be released April 11, 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The expected Wii-U version has been cancelled, and instead, Playtonic is working with Nintendo® to bring the title to the Nintendo Switch™. The game is also now available for pre-order on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, Steam, and GOG. Pre-order participants will receive an instant unlock for the Yooka-Laylee Toybox demo, which will give players a taste of some of the platforming action in a “spoiler free sandbox experience.” Also announced by Playtonic and Team17 was an additional world to explore in Yooka-Laylee, called Capital Cashino. This makes for a total of six worlds that players can explore and expand, filled with challenges, puzzles, bosses, and collectibles.
The talent behind Yooka-Laylee comes from many of the same people that developed Banjo-Kazooie, and Donkey Kong Country, with Yooka-Laylee aiming to be a spiritual successor.
